A Word From Our President...
In the late 1980's, we discovered that home care beds were ugly, insensitively designed and horribly uncomfortable. We tried to resolve this problem by retrofitting existing beds in the market. Our efforts were frustrated by a lack of cooperation from conventional manufacturers. We understood that there was a need to be filled and we decided to design the right product and find a way to build it.

This effort was, and continues to be, backed by our family (three generations worth). With tremendous effort, sacrifice and a little luck, we launched the Original Transfer Master in 1993. Our ideas were so unique, that we received a number of patents from the United State Patent Office! More important, was the widespread acknowledgement and orders that we received from our customers

Our printed catalog is now our fifth edition and this web site continues to grow, as well. We hope you will find this site is a useful guide to enhance life for yourself or for your clientele. You will find not only the Original (and all of its options) but you will also be surprised to find a wide array of specialty beds.

Each year we continue to grow, but we have not abandoned the philosophy that we started with. Each bed has to be exactly what the user needs! The plans for each and every bed that we build are permanently archived with the last name of the user. This personal approach allows us to respond quickly to any changes or service issues that may arise.

On behalf of my family and our dedicated staff, we thank you for your interest in Transfer Master Products.

Sincerely,

Aaron Goldsmith

Why A Transfer Master Adjustable Bed?
In 1969, man first landed on the moon. Twenty-four years later, we figured out how to independently transfer in and out of bed! The patented Original Transfer Master Hi-Low was the first bed build to help with transfers.

The standard minimum height (from the top of the mattress to the floor,) is 18 inches, allowing for easy transfers from most wheelchairs. The Hi-Low mechanism allows the bed to raise 12 inches to enable an easy transfer back to the wheelchair and to simplify care-giving tasks. The head and foot sections rise higher than what you find in most standard homecare beds.

The Original Transfer Master Hi-Low Bed was designed to look like home furniture, yet maintain all of the functions of a clinical (hospital) bed. Typical home care beds are designed exclusively for the nurses. The Original improves on this by meeting the needs of both the user and the rest of the family.

Each Original is custom designed to meet your specific needs. No other bed or any other company offers this level of flexibility.

You can choose from standard widths such as Twin, Full or Queen size, or we can finish the bed to your specification. You determine the length, whether it is standard, extra long, super long or a custom dimension. This is only the beginning of the choices. You then choose the minimum height of the hi-low bed, the finish of the mattress and a range of controls and options. If you are using a lift, you can order an optional package with your adjustable/hi-low bed to allow clearance for any "Hoyer" type system.

Our orthopedic mattresses offer superb comfort. For extra sensitive needs, we offer an optional Memory Foam Pillow Pad Overlay.

Old-fashioned craftsmanship is evident in each bed that we build. The Original is stamped, welded and powder-coated and final assembled in the State of Iowa. Each part is overbuilt to assure a long and useful life. Parts are either bolted or welded together to insure the product's integrity.

The Oasis, a head and foot adjustable bed, is identical in style and a perfect complement to the Original. This adjustable bed is often ordered in a Dual King with the Original. The Oasis can also be modified to meet special needs.

What Is A Dual King?
The perfect approach for a couple to accommodate the requirements of one of the individuals and also serve the needs of their relationship in a desirable fashion. Two Twin beds side by side, each with their own controls, create a Dual King measuring 78 by 80 inches. An Original Transfer Master Twin can be united with another Original or with either of our less expensive choices--The Oasis or The Transfer Master Clone--for maximum comfort, affordability and a wonderful night's sleep!

A Word About Our Mattresses...
All of our orthopedic mattresses are made with great care. We turned to the best manufacturers to design a mattress system that would meet all of our criteria. The mattress needed to follow the contour of our adjustable beds without excessive bulging and still remain supportive. The mattress had to be comfortable but not so soft that it would complicate transferring. We also wanted the materials to breathe and create a healthy environment for skin conditions. Finally, while the mattress needs to bend for adjustment, we needed to keep the edges from crumbling during transfers. After years of research and ongoing improvements, we finally arrived at a system that meets all of our criteria. Most of our mattresses are manufactured in Iowa by Restonic. Normally, the mattresses are made from innersprings while some special application mattresses can be made with latex, specialty or memory foams. Our fabric covering is made with cotton and polyester for breathability and durability. Vinyl is also available by request.
