Company Highlights

1993—Original Transfer Master Hi-Low

Original notes by founder Aaron Goldsmith
Original notes by founder Aaron Goldsmith

In 1993, we revolutionized the hospital bed industry with the launch of the first hospital bed built to help with wheelchair transfers. Our patented Original Transfer Master Hi-Low helped hundreds of customers achieve independence and freedom.

1996—A Bed for Superman

In 1996, Transfer Master built a hospital bed for the late actor, Christopher Reeve, best known for his role as Superman. Reeve, paralyzed the previous year in a riding accident, was making his first public appearance at the 1996 Academy Awards and needed a hospital bed for his hotel room at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.

We’re the last stop for people who can’t make it work with standard hospital beds.

-Aaron Goldsmith, Founder

This was also the year our first patent (#5,490,298) for the Original Transfer Master was granted. This was the industry’s first modular snap-in, high-low bed. This patent has nine citations, which demonstrates that we were on to something!

1997—Patent #5,687,437

In 2004, we launched our Sleep Lab division. Our first major customer was University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. They use our beds in their postpartum rooms. Since then, we have sold Transfer Master beds to over 100 hospitals and facilities across North America.

2011—Jim Bohannon Show

For Valentines, 2011, we asked our Facebook followers: “Do you know an Iraq-Afghan Veteran who could use a new adjustable, electric bed? Nominate your sweetheart here and they might win our giveaway!” We narrowed the submissions down to two (we couldn’t pick just one winner!) and presented the bed on the Jim Bohannon Show. Jim called the winners on live TV, who shed tears of joy.

2011—Extreme Home Makeover

In 2011, we responded to an urgent request from a producer of the hit ABC TV show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. She needed an adjustable, voice-controlled home hospital bed for an upcoming show—in 24 hours! “Not a problem,” we said and got to work. On April 17, 2011 the show about Wichita State baseball legend Carl Hall and his family aired—and in the new home was a brand new Transfer Master bed.

2014—Touch & Glow Wireless Control

Touch-n-glow wireless control

At Transfer Master we always use the latest technology to enhance the lives of our clients. In 2014, we introduced the Touch & Glow wireless hand control for our New Valiant bed. A touch-activated sensor enables the hand control to light up without pushing a single button. The Touch & Glow works from anywhere in the room, giving users greater independence, comfort, and convenience. We call this Freedom Technology.

2015—Patent #9,198,520

Portable, adjustable bed

In 2015, we were granted a patent filed in 2009 for the industry’s first portable, easy-to-assemble, cash & carry, adjustable bed.

Three more patents (#9,713,388, #9,844,273, #9,844,274), further developing this concept, were issued in July and December of 2017. More patents are pending.

2018—Celebrating 25 Years in Business

Over 10,000 custom beds later, we continue to innovate and will be launching a new model soon!

I enjoyed the best night’s sleep since infancy… I only wish I’d had the advantage of a Transfer Master years ago!
