Queen-Sized Hospital Bed FAQs

A queen-size hospital bed is 59 to 60 inches wide. Queen-size adjustable beds are ideal for couples or for individuals who prefer more space than a twin-size hospital bed or a full-size hospital bed provides. Queen-size hospital beds from Transfer Master are 80 inches long.

All of our queen-size hospital beds are designed for home use, including the Supernal 5, the Supernal Hi-Low, and our range of Heavy Duty queen-size bariatric hospital beds.

Transfer Master queen adjustable beds are height adjustable so they can be positioned to suit individual needs. That makes our beds ideal for people who transfer to bed from a wheelchair and who need a low queen bed for access, but prefer to sleep on a higher bed.

Height adjustable queen beds are also an excellent option for people seeking a low queen bed on which they can receive treatment from a caregiver. The adjustable height allows the patient to safely transfer to the bed, following which the bed can be raised to a comfortable work height for the caregiver.

Height adjustable queen beds include:

The most significant difference between a full or queen bed is the width. Full-size adjustable beds are narrower. Queen-size hospital beds are 59 to 60 inches wide and full-size hospital beds are 53 to 54 inches wide wide.

Queen adjustable beds are not available in a dual configuration. For couples who prefer dual beds with independent controls, we recommend a Dual King, also known as a split king. Dual King beds combine two twin-size adjustable beds, each of which can be controlled independently.

Many of our home hospital beds are available in a Dual King configuration, including:

Yes, we offer queen-size adjustable beds with a full range of electronic adjustments, including Head and Foot, Height (Hi-Low), Trendelenburg, Reverse Trendelenburg, and Cardiac Chair adjustments. The adjustments available differ depending on the model, but all of our models are available in a queen-sized option.

Any Transfer Master queen-size hospital bed mattress can be used with our queen-size hospital beds, including the Ascent Hospital Bed Mattress, the Soft Touch Memory Foam Mattress, and our pressure-relief mattresses and bariatric mattresses.

Standard consumer mattresses are not not suitable for a home hospital bed. They lack the flexibility to work with hospital bed adjustments. Hospital bed mattresses include many safety, hygiene, and comfort features that are not available on standard mattresses, including border edge protection.

Queen-size hospital beds are not usually available from rental companies. In the unlikely event that  a queen-size adjustable bed is available for rental, it will be more expensive than buying if you intend to use a home hospital bed for more than a couple of months. Rental beds also lack many of the more advanced features of Transfer Master beds and will have been used by many people. Read our guide to the pros and cons of renting or buying a hospital bed to learn more.

Most Transfer Master home hospital beds can be fitted with half-length rails at the head or the foot.
